Cartografía de riesgo is a multistage collaborative work that collages photography, first person stories and historic facts with a 1905 map of Mexico City's Centro Historico in an exploration of risk in the contemporary city.
The 1905 map was created by the Sanborn Map Company, a U.S. company specializing in maps evaluating the risk of fire. In the creation of a 2025 map, the artist posed the question “What is the risk of forgetting?” rather than “What is the risk of fire?” Möller and Mexico City residents walked the streets of the Centro Historico, sharing personal memories, moments in history and observations on the ever-changing ecosystem of this layered and powerful place. Subsequent photographic interventions literally "marked the spot" on the built environment. This resulting cartography marks over 75 places on a new, freeform map, visualizing our desire not to forget, to always remember.
This second phase of the project was created at El Room and culminated in an exhibit that included the first phase of the project.
