Cold water sea swimmers in Stykkishólmur, Hjalteyri, Hofsós and Reykjavík. This series of 22 images turns a lens on the experience of cold water sea swimming - an activity especially popular among women. The act of entering often brutally cold water is one of fortitude, peace, joy, exhilaration, pain, and camaraderie. During each shoot, I joined in the swimming.
Cold Comfort was exhibited in Stykkishólmur in August, 2024 as part of Dis Art 2, a pop-up exhibition in an old fish factory featuring 13 artists from Iceland and abroad.
